Bally Technologies, a leader in slots, video machines, casino-management, interactive applications, and networked and server-based systems for the global gaming industry, today announced that its Cash Connectionwide-area progressive slot link hit for $734,266 at the Santa Claran Hotel Casino, in Espanola, N.M., on July 5.
The winner, Mickie Schiel, hit the jackpot while playing GREASE™. She says she goes to the Santa Claran about once a week and loves playing GREASE because of the game’s theme and the way it plays. But, she said, she had never won a large amount on the game until the morning she won the huge jackpot.
Just before leaving the casino Schiel decided to play $20 on a GREASE slot. She was down $10 when she started playing the $3 max bet. On her second max-bet spin the GREASE symbols lined up across the pay line. Schiel says she knew the game was going to pay something, but didn’t know if it would actually result in the top progressive prize. She says she turned to another player and said, “I think I won the $734,266.”
Sure enough, she hit the life-changing jackpot.
Schiel says the money will come in handy for a vacation when she and her husband celebrate their twentieth wedding anniversary. First, however, they will pay some bills and set up trust funds for their four grandchildren.
The Cash Connection wide-area-progressive jackpot last hit for $491,767.58 at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn., on April 12. That winner was also playing GREASE.
Inspired by Paramount Pictures’ 1978 American musical film about two love-struck teens in a 1950s high school, GREASE is Bally’s first double-play game, featuring two, 25-line games – enabling the player to play two games at once. GREASE also fully utilizes Bally’s iDeck™ touch-screen button deck in the “Dance Off” Free Games feature in which players “dance” on the iDeck to win additional free games or credits, and in the “How Cool Are You?” bonus in which the player selects from one of four cars on the iDeck and the car moves up the ladder; the winning character indicates the player’s “coolness” factor and awards one of the four progressive jackpots or credit values.
